Robin Nagle teaches anthropology and urban studies at New York University. She is director of the Draper Program, an interdisciplinary master’s program within NYU’s Graduate School of Arts and Science. Her book Picking Up will be published by Farrar, Straus & Giroux.

  3. What a terrific blog! Thanks for sharing your insights on garbage, material culture, and cities. When I was the archivist at Springfield College, I helped a New York law firm access the physiology research that supported the New York sanitation workers back in the 1950s.

    • Thanks, Paige! Do you by chance remember if the law firm ever published anything about that research? or do you remember where you found the information for them? I’m perpetually eager for data about the details of sanitation work.
